Saxophone

Spanish saxophonist Carlos Giménez belongs to a new generation of artists exploring and expanding the role of the saxophone within the classical tradition. After making his orchestral solo debut at Valencia’s Palau de la Música at the age of nineteen, he went on to earn prizes at international competitions in France, Spain, Germany, Italy, and China. As a soloist, he has appeared with orchestras and wind ensembles throughout Europe, building a career that spans solo, chamber, and orchestral performance.

Equally at home in recital, chamber music, and orchestral settings, Carlos is drawn to projects that challenge conventional perceptions of the saxophone and encourage new ways of engaging with the instrument. His work reflects both a deep respect for classical repertoire and a curiosity about how it can be approached from fresh perspectives.

A defining feature of Carlos’s artistic work is his interest in bringing the saxophone into dialogue with repertoire not commonly associated with the instrument. By creating his own arrangements and exploring music beyond the instrument’s established repertoire, he seeks to open new artistic pathways and encourage listeners to hear familiar music through a different lens. His debut recording includes Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde (Vorspiel und Liebestod), presented from a radically different instrumental perspective.

Committed to continual artistic growth, Carlos values artistic exchange and creative exploration. As he continues to develop his international career, he remains focused on expanding his artistic horizons through new repertoire, projects, and musical partnerships.
