Italian pianist Giorgio Lazzari is guided by curiosity, discovery, and a deep engagement with the cultural worlds surrounding music. While firmly rooted in the German and Austrian classics, he is equally drawn to lesser-known works and contemporary repertoire, viewing them as opportunities to broaden artistic perspectives and enrich the concert experience.

A top prize winner at the International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn and the Robert Schumann Competition Düsseldorf, Giorgio was also a semifinalist at the 2025 Honens International Piano Competition. He has appeared extensively across Italy and Europe, both as a soloist and with orchestra, performing at festivals and institutions including the Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Beethovenfest Bonn, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Vaduz Classic, and the Festival Pianistico Internazionale di Brescia e Bergamo.

Chamber music is an essential part of Giorgio’s artistic work. In 2025, he received the Renzo Giubergia Prize together with violinist Sofia Manvati. His commitment to collaboration was further developed through the Résidence de Musique de Chambre at the 2023 Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and the Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz programme, where he worked with artists including Kirill Gerstein, Roman Simovic, and Stefan Dohr.

Giorgio is also strongly committed to contemporary repertoire and has worked closely with composers Stefano Gervasoni, Alessandro Solbiati, and Olivier Cuendet. In 2019, he gave the premiere of Solbiati’s Corde e Martelletti at the Trame Sonore Festival in Mantua. His interest extends beyond individual works to the cultural, historical, and human contexts from which music emerges. Through his concert programmes, he seeks to reveal unexpected relationships across styles, periods, and traditions, inviting audiences to encounter repertoire from fresh perspectives.

Born in 2000, Giorgio studied with Maria Grazia Bellocchio at the Conservatorio Gaetano Donizetti in Bergamo and is currently continuing his studies with Kirill Gerstein and Jonathan Aner at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin. A scholarship recipient of the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein, he has also studied with Pavel Gililov, Claudio Martínez Mehner, and Marc Bouchkov. He was recently honoured with the Roscini-Padalino Award from Perugia Musica Classica and is a member of the Althafen Foundation’s Talent Studio 2026.
