Pianist Vladimir Petrov is a laureate and Audience Prize winner of the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano. Critics have described him as “one of the best pianists of his generation” (Viviana Aubele, Martin Wullich Journal), while others praise his “rare musicality and inimitable spirit” (Yurii Danilin, Literary Gazette). He is widely recognised for his expressive depth, virtuosity, and stylistic versatility.

Born in Russia and raised in Mexico from the age of three, Petrov combines two cultural influences that shape his artistic identity. He has won top prizes at numerous international competitions, including the Lotar Shevchenko Competition (Russia), Ciudad de Vigo Competition (Spain), José Jacinto Cuevas–Yamaha Competition (Mexico), NTD Piano Competition (New York), and the Neapolitan Masters Competition (Italy), in addition to his success at the Busoni Competition.

His international concert career has taken him across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, with appearances in major venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Salle Cortot in Paris, Salle Frank Martin in Geneva, and the Great Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory, as well as performances at the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theatres. He has collaborated with orchestras across Europe and the Americas, working with conductors including Valery Gergiev, Lanfranco Marcelletti, Tito Muñoz, Pavel Gerstein, and Gleb Skvortsov, and has also performed in chamber music collaborations with violinists Graf Mourzha and Kristóf Baráti.

Petrov’s discography includes four solo albums. His recording Encores (2021, Mans Label) was released in Spain, while his album featuring Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes was recorded in the Great Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory. A new recording project, produced in New York, is scheduled for release in 2025. His repertoire ranges from Classical and Romantic masterworks to large-scale virtuosic and Russian repertoire.

He graduated from the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow in 2020, studying with Valerii Piassetsky and Elisso Virsaladze, and was named Top Graduate Student of the Year. He later continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar under Grigory Gruzman. He is currently pursuing postgraduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York under Horacio Gutiérrez while maintaining an active international concert career.
