Italian pianist Martina Consonni has emerged as a distinctive voice among a new generation of Italian musicians. Moving naturally between solo performance, chamber music, and orchestral collaborations, she has built an international career distinguished by poetic musicianship, artistic maturity, and exceptional technical brilliance. She has appeared at many of the world’s leading concert venues, including the Berlin Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Tonhalle Zürich, Shanghai Concert Hall, Teatro La Fenice, and Teatro alla Scala.

Since her orchestral debut at the age of ten, Martina has performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Dresden Philharmonic, Bochum Symphoniker, Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich, Tonkünstler-Orchester, and Camerata Schweiz under conductors including Sir András Schiff, Louis Langrée, Anna Rakitina, Howard Griffiths, and Holly Choe. Recent highlights include a tour with the Orchestra della Toscana performing Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto, debuts with the Tonkünstler-Orchester, and performances with Camerata Schweiz at the Tonhalle Zürich and KKL Luzern.

Chamber music is equally central to her work. Collaborations with Gautier Capuçon, Steven Isserlis, Tabea Zimmermann, and Diyang Mei have nurtured a musical approach shaped by attentiveness, flexibility, and a natural instinct for building a shared artistic vision. She recently co-founded Trio Clara with violinist Sarah Jégou-Sageman and cellist Anouchka Hack. The ensemble has already won First Prize at the Virtuoso & Belcanto Competition Festival.

A laureate of the Fondation Gautier Capuçon, Martina was selected for Sir András Schiff’s Building Bridges series and the Classeek Ambassador Programme. Earlier in her career, she became the youngest recipient of the Casella Prize at the Premio Venezia competition. Her most recent album, released by Warner Classics with violinist Sarah Jégou-Sageman and cellist Jeein You, received five-star reviews, with BBC Music Magazine praising her “luminous piano playing” and the ensemble’s outstanding artistry. Her forthcoming album for Alpha Classics, due for release in early 2027, will feature Haydn’s Piano Concerto with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe alongside a selection of his piano sonatas.

Born in Como in 1997, Martina earned her piano diploma with highest honors at the age of fourteen before continuing her studies with Enrico Pace, Arie Vardi, and Sir András Schiff. She completed advanced training at the Imola International Academy, the Barenboim-Said Akademie in Berlin, and the Kronberg Academy.

Particularly drawn to the transparency, elegance, and expressive freedom of Mozart, Schubert, and Haydn, Martina values music making as a shared process of discovery, where spontaneity, trust, and openness allow each performance to take on a life of its own.
