Mission
To reimagine the classical concert as an interactive experience grounded in folk heritage. By highlighting the influence of oral traditions on Western music, the project creates new points of entry into the chamber repertoire
Approach
Led by Alinde Quartett, Quartetto in Festa is an annual production that reimagines the concert experience through a new musical program and narrative direction each year—while remaining rooted in its core concept of blending chamber music with live storytelling. Each edition features a curated selection of works interwoven with narration and interactive elements. Directed by Alexander Wanat, who also performs alongside Leonardo Larini, the performance creates a shared space where music and spoken word unfold in close dialogue.
Impact
Quartetto in Festa expands the role of chamber music in public life by connecting audiences with its folk roots through an accessible, interdisciplinary format

roadmap
Quartetto in Festa is conceived as an annual project, maintaining its core concept while introducing new stories and musical pieces each year
Initial concept development for Quartetto in Festa began, inspired by the vibrant atmosphere of European village festivals. Alinde Quartett, in collaboration with Freunde und Förderer der Kammermusik NRW e.V., shaped the project to merge high-caliber classical music with storytelling, performance, and interactive audience engagement.
2023
Repertoire curation and program structuring took place, with a focus on folk-inspired works by Monteverdi, Schubert, Mendelssohn, and Grieg. The involvement of actors and narrators was planned to enhance the concert experience through spoken word and theatrical elements.
early 2024
Casting and finalization of artistic direction under the leadership of Alexander Wanat and performed with Leonardo Larini. Rehearsals with musicians and narrators commenced to integrate music and storytelling into a cohesive performance.
mid-to-late 2024
Official launch of Quartetto in Festa, with 8 performances spread across Italy and Germany. The project aims to engage diverse audiences by reviving historical folk traditions within a classical music framework. The tour incorporates immersive elements, allowing attendees to experience a concert that transcends traditional formats.
2025
Quartetto in Festa continues as an annual series, evolving each year with new stories, music, and collaborations. Looking ahead, the project envisions expansion to additional European locations, deeper partnerships with cultural institutions, and the integration of digital storytelling to broaden access and engagement.
